A wonderful hotel in a truly picturesque location! The rooms are very cozy and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing stay. I especially enjoyed the charming tea and coffee areas where you can sit back and take in the atmosphere.

One of the highlights was the concept of shared breakfast and dinner at a large table with other guests — a lovely opportunity to connect and have great conversations.

The staff were incredibly attentive and took excellent care of us — they even insisted on carrying our luggage to the room.

The parking is convenient, and the whole place feels thoughtfully designed and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Dette hotellet er absolutt å anbefale! Fantastisk beliggenhet blant fjellene, og en veldig hyggelig hage der man kan nyte utsikten. Og sola, om man er heldig.

Servicen og maten var også første klasse! Særlig frokosten med ferskt hjemmebakt brød og sveler med brunostkrem er verdt å nevne.

Med tanke på alt som var inkludert i oppholdet, slik som aperitiff, bar snack og tre retters gourmetmiddag, fikk vi svært god verdi for pengene.

Skal man til Åndalsnes for å gå i fjellet, er dette stedet å bo!

Hyggelig atmosfære, Veldig god middag. Spesielt forretten med kveite og Lysing som hovedrett var fantastisk. Vinen som ble anbefalt passet godt. Til frokost var det godt utvalg og hjemmebakt brød. Gode madrasser og deilige dyner. Vi var 6 damer på tur.

Mooi hotel, heel sfeervol en een superleuk concept voor het eten: 3 lange eettafels met tafelschikking; dat maakt dat je makkelijk in contact komt met de andere gasten. Doet wel een beetje denken aan de hotels in de verhalen Agatha Christie, gelukkig hoefde hier geen moord opgelost te worden :-))||Een tikje gedateerd was onze (ruime) kamer wel wat ik helemaal niet erg vind maar hier en daar kan het wat zorg extra gebruiken: kapotte lampjes, weinig haakjes, slechte verlichting. Een ander ding - dat makkelijk te verhelpen is -: de klemmende deur van de gedeelde badkamer maakt bij het openen en sluiten veel kraakgeluid en je ziet niet of er iemand in de badkamer zit dus moet je wel aan de kruk rammelen om zeker te weten dat hij vrij is. En dat is voor degene die in de badkamer is, niet zo fijn. |Heel vriendelijk personeel, staat altijd klaar om blij te helpen. Goede keuken met veel zelfgemaakte lekkernijen. Altijd kannen op de gang met koud water, koffie en thee. |Bonus: zwemmen in de heldere rivier op 400 meter lopen. Heerlijk na een warme dag!

Hotel Aak is a beautiful and quaint hotel, and we loved every minute of staying there. We stayed in many high-end hotels in Norway during our visit, but Hotel AAK was one of our favourites and definitely had some of the best food we had. We were totally surprised by the amazing meals at dinner. The chef did a wonderful job! The staff were warm and welcoming, and always there to answer a question or help you out. We felt very at home. If we ever returned to Norway, this hotel will be the top of our list.

What should have been a joyful birthday celebration for my son turned into a ruined weekend. The hotel handled everything unprofessionally, charged my card multiple times without authorization, and still has not refunded the full amount. Instead of relaxation, we faced stress, confusion, and wasted hours fixing problems that never should happen at a hotel of this class. Even breakfast was disappointing, with a poor selection and frozen berries.

Fantastiskt litet hotell som helt klart är värt en omväg! Otroligt god mat på kvällen när vi kom som hade alla smakerna på rätt ställe och med grönsaker odlade i Hotel Aaks trädgård. Servicen är supertrevlig och sängarna sköna. Så hemtrevligt och bekvämt!

My wife, daughter and I stayed one night in the Superior (family) room in July 2025.

Positives: Both the interior of the hotel and the garden are absolutely lovely and set up for relaxation and comfort. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. We met lots of nice people at the group dinner and for drinks in the garden after.

Mixed: The 3-course dinner was expensive with no choices -- about $70 per person but beautifully presented. My wife thought it was one of the best she had had in Norway -- my daughter and I were less thrilled, mostly because of food preferences. Goat appetizer and fish main.

Negatives: The room is on the front of the hotel with south and west windows. It was unbearably hot. We had to keep the windows wide open to get any breeze, but the road noise (large trucks and motorcycles) continued well past 12 am in the morning. Apparently, the hotel has a limited number of fans which were not available to us -- so, very hot and loud at night. Breakfast is NOT included which we weren't aware of until we saw our bill. That was ok, but the buffet was half empty when we arrived at 9:00 -- no scrambled eggs, lack of cheese, only the ends of bread. jams were empty, no smoothies, etc. Many of these were not replaced until at least 40 minutes later when we were ready to leave despite requests. We had to request coffee and it arrived late as well.

Overall, it was a mixed experience with some very positive things and some very negative things. I think we would probably stay somewhere else if we were in the area again.
