I absolutely recommend the Dog Sledding Adventure from Into Nature, it was a totally amazing experience. We decided to go with Into Nature because it offered smaller more intimate tours than other companies closer to Tromsø, and it was 100% the right decision.

It was clear from the start that Quentin cares passionately about his dogs. As other reviewers have mentioned, the tourist element is their secondary role, they are primarily racing dogs. The dogs are clearly well looked after and cared for, and you get to experience just how happy, friendly and excited to see you they are when you enter their enclosure to get ready for the sledding adventure. I don't like to play favourites, but Birch was adorable and we were lucky enough to have her lead our sled!

Quentin and his team (Vincent and Max) were very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to answer our many questions; learning about the dogs and how they compete in races was fascinating while enjoying a warm drink and sweet treat around the fire.

Dress warmly anyway (base layer, mid layer and warm hat), but you will be offered a snow suit and boots if you want to stay warm, it can get chilly speeding through the snow.

As for the sledding itself, as a passenger you don't have to do much except sit back in the sled, enjoy the ride and not drop your phone! As the driver, there is a bit of physicality involved, you have to help the dogs out going up hills by jumping off to the side and running/pushing the sled - fair warning, the biggest hill is before you swap drivers so be prepared if you go first!

Quentin gives full instructions on how to operate the sled and what to expect from the dogs, etc, before you leave. It can sound scary, it is important information so pay attention, but don't let it put you off having a go at driving, it's easier than you might be expect. Just remember to brake, brake, brake! The dogs absolutely love to run, run, run!

Quentin, the dogs and his staff were great. It was a wonderful and intimate experience which was such a nice change from most high volume tourist tours. Quentin does this to fund his passion and you can tell he really takes great care of his dogs as his family. I would go go by recommend this experience! (And the snacks, conversation, and fire were all added bonuses!)

Dear Quentin,

Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We booked a private tour and had an absolutely epic time! With you and your furry friends, we could truly feel the connection, and we had an amazing ride with our sled. The kids (3 and 6) sat in the front and kept wanting to go faster! This experience is far from mass tourism—something truly special.

An unforgettable day for us and our children—thank you for that!

Hello from Mestervik, northern Norway. We are about 300km north of the Arctic circle near Tromso.

We are doing a few sledding adventures here but this one has been our favourite by far.

We spent half a day at Into Nature with Quentin Crahay at his home and with and his magnificent Alaskan Huskies. This is not a commercial tour business, far from it - these dogs are Quentin’s pets and race dogs. There are many sledding tour business kennels here, Quentin runs bespoke, small sledding adventures for max of 6 people, which supports his ‘main game’ - training and racing his dogs in Scandinavian long distance events such as the Finnsmarkslopet. So we were very privileged to run three 6 dog teams made up of Quentin’s race dogs.

My 6 dog teams was:

Birch - Crumble in lead
Hermann - Maui in swing
Beretta - Fjell in wheel

These dogs are amazing, affectionate, friendly, hard working and smart. We did 21km over 90mins and broke some trail doing a turn around. What I found interesting was that we did not need to give any voice commands to the teams at all, even when the teams were spread out over 500+metres even with multiple turn options. Each team followed the trail of the team in front, even when they were out of sight.

Quentin’s lines are primarily sourced from Swedish Musher Petter Karlsson who has won the Finnsmarkslopet 1200km race 4 times and also Mitch Seavey. I definitely had some favourites which are in the photos.
We spent a lot of time in the ‘dog yard’ before and after the run. We witnessed dog care and temperament at its best. Just amazing. If you are looking for a high quality, great value sledding experience, you need to do this. In Quentin’s expert hands everyone was safe and well cared for. This is a unique and personal tour experience, much more superior than the large commercial sled dog tours in and around Tromso

We had an incredible time dog sledding with Quentin! From the get-go, it was clear his passion and love for his dogs rivals his passion for keeping us clumsy tourists in one piece. Quentin's instructions were so thorough and he was there to steady the sled and our nerves after some early hiccups. Afterwards, we cozied up with Norwegian snacks, homemade tea, and Quentin's jokes – the perfect antidote to the cold. Oh, and did we mention we saw the Northern Lights?! If you're in the area, do. not. miss. this. Trust us, your inner dog lover (and sense of adventure) will thank you!

If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is the place! Quentin is passionate and very knowledgeable about huskies and Norway. He takes care of his 36 dogs like his children. We knew just by looking at them that they were happy and very well taken care of. We could enjoy some time with the puppies and a ride on a sledge around the forest, and were offered a typical Norwegian treat and drink around a fire, in a traditional Lavo (Sami tipee). The place had an easy access by car from Norway and there's a nice camping place just ten minutes away, so it was very convenient. I can only recommend to book with Quentin, if you're looking for an experience away from tourist traps!

Un moment incroyable à Into Nature.

Fantastic. If you have access to a car (it's around a 90min drive from Tromsø in winter conditions) then absolutely choose this tour over any other more local options.
The tours are kept to small groups (we had 7 participants) which really makes a big difference to the experience. Quentin, the owner, was on hand to meet and greet and made us feel very welcome on arrival. The dogs are racing dogs and as such feel very well looked after and you can twll Quentin has a genuine love and admiration for his dogs.
The tour itself was just as described and lasted 3 hours with just the right amount of sledding for a novice. There is a certain amount of physicality if you want to help the dogs up hills but generally, should be achievable for most who want to try.
The dogs were instantly lovable and incredibly friendly and we were allowed plenty of time to enjoy meeting them all and getting to know them.
The team consisted of Quentin, Vincent and Max and all 3 were very friendly and answered all the questions we all had.
The open fire, snacks (locally made Lefse was delicious!) and warm drink after was much appreciated and offered a nice moment to get to know Quentin and his business a little better. He was also a great source of local knowledge.
Very highly recommended.
